Seminare

2022

1. – 3. April “Spaces of Resonance 5” in Hamburg
together with Petra Koch (Feldenkrais-Trainer)

Seminar: “All Ear” – Listening

In this seminar we will explore together how conscious hearing can help us to regulate our body tension and how this change in the uprightness of our body affects our hearing, sound, speaking and singing. We will feel how our ability to vibrate and resonate promotes vitality and joie de vivre.

Information und Anmeldung: Petra Koch petra.c.koch@gmail.com

29. April – 1. May in Hamburg
The Wings of the Voice, weekend-seminar

In this seminar we will explore the relationship between body, uprightness and vocal sound. “Wings” mean the “transverse floors”, i.e. the facia layers (diaphragms) that run horizontally to the spine. Their coordination and ability to vibrate give the voice lightness, power and authentic expression. We will work with both the speaking and the singing voice using the example of simple polyphonic songs.

Adult Education Seminar
Breathing, Movement, Voice in your Professional and Everyday Life
together with Stephanie Kraus

26. – 29. May 2022 in Neu-Darchau/Elbe/North-Germany
seminar-house Sophia in Drethem

The body work in the tradition of Elsa Gindler (1885–1961), also known as Gindler-work is a way of self inquiry. It is based on releasing deeply rooted tendencies and habits that hold and contract muscular tissue. Sensing and understanding the inner workings of our own body we can discover the free flow of our breathing and the lightness of our natural movements. To experience this interaction teaches us to respect the physical principles of our body and to develop a new competence, which we can draw on in times of outer stress or inner imbalance.

The objective of this work is to integrate the liveliness of our movement and our voice into our professional and our everyday life – beyond attitude and posture – and in this way regaining our own inner balance and strength. Insights into the anatomy of our body and the function of our voice are an integral part of the seminar, which complement the process of developing a greater self awareness.

This seminar is aimed at people who in their professional and private life wish to relate lively and attentively to their body and their voice. At the same time it offers ways of stress management and regeneration.

The Healing Voice – weekend seminar in Potsdam/Berlin
14. – 16. September

In Indian music, the voice is said to be the queen of all instruments. There has always been a deep knowledge of how the body’s ability to resonate affects the sound of one’s own voice and the listener.

Without any claim to perfection and sound expectations, we can experience the voice not only as a means of communication, but as a mediator of deep feelings and great honesty, and we can imagine how each person with their very own sound is part of the “great symphony of life”.

This approach, which is based on the bodywork of Elsa Gindler and Frieda Goralewski, is aimed at people – (choral) singers, therapists, teachers, speakers, musicians, trainers, people who work in social or healing professions, laypeople interested in voice – who want a natural, lively and careful use of their speaking and singing voice in their professional and private lives.

Intensive Seminar 2021

“The Healing Voice”  29. – 31. October in Berlin

with Imke McMurtrie

In Indian music the voice is called the queen of all instruments. Since ancient times there exists a deep knowledge about the quality of resonance within the body and how it influences the voice and the person that listens.
Without expectation for perfection and anticipation of how a voice “should” sound, we can experience our voice not only as an organ of communication but also as an intermediary of deep feelings and great honesty. And we can sense how each human being has her/his own particular sound in the “Great Symphony of Life” (Hazrat Inayat Khan).

This approach that is grounded  in the work of the movement teachers Elsa Gindler and Frieda Goralewski addresses singers, choir-singers, therapists, teachers, speakers, musicians, trainers and people who work in social and healing professions, people who are interested in their voice and who are looking for a lively and resourceful way of using their singing and speaking voice.

Intensiv Seminar

Adult Education Seminar
Breathing, Movement, Voice in your Professional and Everyday Life
together with Stephanie Kraus

had to be cancelled because of Corona

21. – 24. May 2020 in the Monastery of Ratzeburg near Hamburg

A free body has a great potential to resonate and – like a good musical instrument – it can allow the voice to unfold. Each time we receive our inbreath, we connect with a source, a stillness – something deeply meaningful within us, with which we can learn to stay in contact even while speaking or singing. The prerequisite for a voice as well as for truthful communication with ourselves and others, is to experience our body as a transparent, energetic space of resonance, in which the voice can vibrate in its multi-faceted nature.

Seminar

23. – 25. October “Spaces of Resonance 4” in Hamburg
together with Petra Koch (Feldenkrais-Lehrerin)

How do I experience my chest when I walk, laugh, turn, bend, stretch…? Does the flexibility of the ribs, the sternum, the breathing muscles allow feelings like sadness, joy, surprise…?
With the help of Feldenkrais lessons and the vibrational quality of our chest voice we want to develop an awareness for the co-ordination of sternum, spine, ribs and vocal sound. Serenity, flexibility, creativity and vocal presence might be the “side-effects”.

In our seminar room is enough space for all participants to stretch out on the floor with 1,5m distance between each other.

The text for this seminar has been written before the corona situation arose. This is why we want to take additional precaution for the work with the voice. In this seminar, we want to use the technique of “humming” to explore the bodies natural capacity to energize and relax via the vibrational quality of our own voices through humming. The connection of fascia between larynx, pericardium and diaphragm can be especially experienced while humming. This “micro-massage” can vitalise the entire connective tissue and enhance our bodily awareness. The effect of this work on the singing and speaking voice will be one of lightness, ease and naturalness.
